Another day at the office
Company picnic at Disneyland today.

While it’s true that I’ve worked unusually long hours the last few weeks and I took a short vacation out of the country, there are other factors at work to explain why I haven’t written more than 100 words in a single sitting in months. Lately, outside of my day job, I’ve just let laziness and apathy get the better of me.
I fully intend to write about my recent trip to Cuba for anyone who would care to read it. Soon. Soonish.
Meanwhile, you can see all 400-something photos from the trip that I’ve uploaded to Flickr.

For the last couple hours of work on Friday evenings, my company gives us pizza and beer and we’re just supposed to play games the rest of the night. This usually means video games, although some people play card games or socialize or just continue working. Tonight I convinced a handful of my coworkers to join me outside for a game of 4 Square, which none of us have played since we were kids. Some had never played at all.
At first I think they were just humoring me when I brought a regulation 8.5 inch kick ball and some sidewalk chalk to mark out the squares. But once we started playing, we were having so much fun that no one wanted to quit. We declared “last round” three or four times before we actually meant it. Everyone said they already can’t wait till next Friday to play again.
I took some bad photos, which you can find here.
In case you’re wondering, we more or less followed the International 4-Square League rules, but our squares were less than regulation.

First and certainly most important: NBC is bringing back American Gladiators!
Second, a coworker alerted me to this photo, in which I am half-sitting off to the left. It was taken at work on a day when some contest winners came to visit our offices. That’s one of the winners there in the hat.

After more than a month of riding my bike to work two or three days a week, I finally reached my goal of four days. Tomorrow I’ll take a much needed rest day and drive instead. I’m glad I’m biking to work, but honestly, just the thought of it is enough to exhaust me. It’s a little after 4pm now and I’m not very excited about going home in an hour.
